Most of what makes a garden last is the part you never see. Hard landscaping is the structural work beneath the planting — the walls that hold a slope, the levels that stop water pooling, the groundwork that everything else is built on.
What's involved
It begins with a site visit, because the right answer depends entirely on the ground: how it falls, how it drains, what it has to hold back. From there we build the bones — retaining walls, terracing, steps and the drainage that keeps them sound — in brick and stone chosen to suit the property. We'll help you settle on the right material and colour rather than leave you to guess at the merchant's yard.
